Launch of Electronic Challan Cum Return by the Hon’ble Minister of Labour and Employment, Sri Mallikarjun Kharge.

Today on the auspicious occasion of the May Day, the Hon’ble Minister of Labour and Employment, Sri Mallikarjun Kharge launched the Electronic Return cum Challan (ECR) in a function organized at the Conference Hall of the Ministry of Labour and Employment at Shram Shakti Bhawan, New Delhi.

On this occasion the Hon’ble Minster enumerated the benefits of the return and stated that the employers will no longer have to visit the EPFO offices for the purpose of submission of the various monthly and annual returns and they also have the option of making the payment online. This will also benefit the EPF members whose PF balances will be updated immediately after the monthly remittance is made by the employer and they do not have to wait for the end of the year to know the balances. He stated that this was a step ahead in making the services anytime anywhere based.

The occasion was attended by the Officers from the Ministry including the Additional Secretary, L & E Sri Ravi Mathur and from EPFO namely the CPFC Sri R C Mishra, CVO Sri Rajeev Kumar, FA & CAO, EPFO Sri Rajesh Bansal, Additional Central Commissioners Sri K C Pandey, Sri Ajit Kulasrestha, Sri S R Joshi, Sri P K Udgata and the IS Division team under the Additional Central Commissioner (IS) Sri B K Panda. Representatives of the media were also present.

Addressing the gathering on the occasion Sri R C Mishra, CPFC informed about the problems that were being faced by the employers in preparation and submission of the multiple paper returns and of the EPFO in reconciling them. He also stated that the benefit of the ECR initiative would reach the members also as they will be able to view the updated balances immediately after the remittance by the employer and this initiative will bring transparency and efficiency in the Organisation.

On this occasion two employers from Delhi were invited to display the working of the ECR portal. One of them uploaded one ECR file after approving the same generated an online challan and made online payment against the uploaded file. The members pass book on the basis of the uploaded ECR file in respect of the other establishment was displayed before the gathering. Sri B K Panda made the presentation as to how the employers had to use the portal for the upload of the ECR leading up to remittance and the display of the member’s passbook.
